Cult hero: Tony Yeboah

CHIEFLY remembered in this country for his time at Leeds United, the Ghanaian striker is one of the most prolific strikers in African footballing history. The powerfully built forward earned his reputation on the back of venomous shooting power which resulted in many a goal-of-the-season contender during his spell at Elland Road in the mid-Nineties.

Yeboah arrived in England from Eintracht Frankfurt for whom he made over 100 appearances and attributed his scoring prowess to a newly-discovered love of Yorkshire pudding. Yeboah ended his career with Al Itihad of Doha.
