Croall on course for seventh track crown

Capital cyclist Bruce Croall has built a seemingly unassailable lead in the Meadowbank National Track League after dominating proceedings in the latest round of racing, writes COLIN RENTON.

The City of Edinburgh rider posted a treble, with successes in the 12 laps scratch, elimination race, and 35 lap scratch event. His haul of 15 points has extended Croall’s advantage over nearest challenger Dave Martin (Bicycleworks) to a substantial 45 points with only four weeks of the season remaining. As such, Croall appears to be set to clinch the silverware for a seventh successive year.

His club mate Louise Haston also remains on course for overall success in the women’s competition, although she can still be caught by youngster
Katie Archibald (Edinburgh RC), who has trimmed Haston’s advantage to ten points.
