World prize for women’s game plan

CRICKET Scotland have received another award for their work developing the women’s game.

After the European award from the International Cricket Council for the Best Women’s Cricket Initiative, they have now Scotland has received global recognition at the Pepsi ICC Development Programme Awards for 2011.

Among the improvements have been the integration of the Women’s National League and the Women’s Scottish Cup along with a number of successful indoor sixes tournaments and a link-up with the Girl Guides.

Scotland women’s all-time top run scorer, now Women’s Cricket Manager, Kari Carswell, said: “It’s great to pick up the award. We are looking to push on and continue to increase participation at all levels.”

The global award also carries a $2000 equipment grant.
