Women in white coats on the way

women’s cricket continues to flourish in Scotland. So perhaps it should come as little surprise that a women has infiltrated the hitherto exclusively male bastion of umpiring.

Kat Heathcote, Marketing and Communications Advisor to Cricket Scotland, is from a mad-keen cricketing family in South Wales and has experience as a scorer here with RHC. She officiated in her first senior competitive match last Thursday – a Rowan Cup tie between Drumpellier and Kelburne.

“These are early days,” said umpire mentor Vic Hadcroft, “but Kat brings to the role a lively intelligence and a passion for the game.

Next up for Kat is this Sunday’s Scotland Wildcats versus MCC Women clash at Dollar.
