Heriot’s oust East Kilbride to reach semi

Heriot’s set up a Scottish Cricket Cup semi-final at Carlton next Sunday after an eight wicket victory over East
Kilbride in a match switched to Clydesdale.

The tie had originally been due to go ahead last weekend but Heriot’s quickly made up for lost time by restricting East Kilbride to 157-8 from their 35 overs.

Only Scott Dalgleish came to terms with the Heriot’s attack in making 39.

In reply, Steve Knox hit 87 not out and Cammie Farrell was unbeaten on 36 as Heriot’s got home with an over to spare.

With Watsonians favourites to defeat Stenhousemuir in this Sunday’s other semi-final at Myreside, an all-East clash to decide the trophy is on the cards.

In such an event, organisers may come under pressure to move the final along the M8 from its scheduled venue of Titwood on September 2.

Meanwhile, Marchmont are due to begin their defence of the Activcity Trophy when they visit Edinburgh South at Inch Park tomorrow.
