First Division: Forfarshire braced for tough test

IT WOULD be a major surprise if Forfarshire don’t easily sweep aside the challenge of struggling Penicuik at Forthill but, despite the problems of the visitors, home skipper Craig Wallace is taking nothing for granted.

He stated: “Penicuik will be a tough opposition so we need to be at our best and not complacent. A positive factor is that we are fielding an unchanged side.”

The outcome is likely to be the same at Glenrothes, where the locals square up to ailing neighbours Freuchie.

At Boghall, Dundee HSFP will be hard-pressed to take anything from their encounter with West Lothian. In the West Zone, Kelburne will go into battle with old rivals Poloc brimming with confidence after their midweek exploits.

For the first time in decades, the Paisley brigade earned a place in the Rowan Cup Final with a tense success over neighbours Ferguslie and will take on Drumpellier next Thursday at Shawholm. But first, a league win on home turf will be priority – and they will be hoping for more meaningful batting contributions from Qasim Sheik and Steve McLister. Poloc have yet to establish momentum and it will be a tough ask for them to halt the negative trend.

Elsewhere, Ferguslie entertain pacesetters East Kilbride, Stenhousemuir head for Greenock and Prestwick take on Weirs at Henry Thow Oval.
