Cricket: Fraser’s on top form as Holy Cross notch up third success of season

Holy CROSS recorded their third win of the East One season with a comfortable victory over Marchmont on Saturday.

Fielding first the home side put in a good shift at Arboretum to see the men from Cavalry Park dismissed for 138. Raja Javed was the pick of the attack with 4-42 while for the visitors Alan Renwick and Matt Loeffen both dug in for 33 each.

In reply Keith Fraser and Charlie Ellis were on top form as Holy Cross won by nine wickets, Fraser scoring 81 not out and well supported by the latter with 41 not out.

Teenager Ali Shah scored a superb century as Carlton II defeated Grange II at Grange Loan.

Shah’s 113 helped the hosts post 232-9 and then the visitors were bowled all out for 144.

A good all-round showing by Steve Rowley kept Glenrothes top of the table. He hit 35 in the Fifers’ 195 all out against Murrayfield DAFS at Riverside Park and then he took 3-34.

Deva Mahadevan top scored with 67 as Musselburgh chased down the 150 set by Largo at Loretto School to win by five wickets.

And Watsonians II backed up last week’s win at Grange II by seeing off Dunfermline.

In East Two Umair Farooq scored 117 as Edinburgh thumped Freuchie II.
