Cricket: Coetzer is set for Scotland captaincy

KYLE Coetzer is set to be named as Scotland’s new captain.

The Aberdeen-born Northamptonshire batsman, whose appointment follows the recent resignation of Gordon Drummond, will take charge for the first time in this weekend’s double-header against Pakistan.

Due to Coetzer’s county commitments, it is understood Preston Mommsen will continue as skipper of the Saltires. Cricket Scotland would last night only confirm that an announcement will be made this week, but
Coetzer, 29, is seen as the ideal candidate.
