Carlton reach Masterton final

CARLTON will face either Watsonians or SMRH in the final of the annual Murgitroyd Masterton twenty:20 cricket tournament at Grange Loan on Friday after defeating Grange by nine runs at the same venue last night.

Batting first, Carlton posted 162-6 in which skipper Fraser Watts was a mainstay with 57.

Visiting seamer Raj Routray claimed two early victims but with Gordon Drummond emerging to hit 43 the total was always going to be challenging. The game turned on Grange captain Neil McCallum being caught by Umair Mohammad off Rob Thornton for 83 and 15 from the final over proved too much.
