Carlton II’s title quest suffers blow

Carlton II’s East One title bid suffered an unexpected blow on Saturday when they lost out to Largo at Grange Loan. Batting first, the Fifers posted 174 all out, Nick Martin the best of the home bowlers with three wickets.

In reply, the hosts never got going and only a hard fought 46 from Fraser Allardice helped them to make it in to three figures. They were eventually all out for 108 to lose by 66 runs, youngster Hughes Gillin the star for Largo taking five
wickets.

Teenager Will Edwards led the way for Grange II as they defeated Watsonians II at Myreside. A century from the talented Edwards, the younger brother of under-19 World Cup player Henry, helped his side post a total which the hosts were never going to reach once they lost early wickets in reply.
