Australian Bailey back for summer stint with Saltires

AUSTRALIAN cricketer George Bailey will return to Scotland this summer. The Tasmanian skipper, who played for the Saltires in 2007, is available for the duration of Scotland's Pro40 campaign.

Bailey's return appeared in doubt after he was called up for Australia's one-day tour of New Zealand last month but he wasn't called upon to make his international debut.

Three years ago, Bailey scored 274 runs in nine games for Scotland, including a top score of 92 against Durham.

"I'm really looking forward to being a part of the Scotland set-up again," said Bailey. "I've been in pretty good form for Tasmania."

Bailey was selected for the Australia A tour of India in late 2008 and also earned an IPL contract with the Chennai Super Kings. The 27-year-old right-hander scored 538 runs at 59.77 for the Tasmanian Tigers in this season's domestic one-day competition, in which he captained his state to the title.
