Cricket: Pupils gearing up for indoor sixes

The West Schools Indoor Cricket Sixes is taking place over the winter months to try and encourage more youngsters to take up the sport.

Schools such asLomond School inHelensburgh to Greenwood Academy in NorthAyrshire entered the event and the teams - made up of S4-6 pupils - were split into four groups of three. Each game lasts just under an hour.

Cricket Scotland's West regional development manager Iain Stewart said: "This event builds on the success of the Scottish Schools Cup we introduced in 2009. There are a lot of pupils wanting to play."

West Schools Indoor Cricket Sixes groups: Group A: Hillhead HS, Stonelaw HS, Bannerman HS. Group B: Eastwood HS, St Ninians RC HS 'A', Greenwood Academy. Group C: Belmont House School, Lomond School, Glasgow Academy. Group D: Shawlands Academy, Hillpark Secondary School, Holyrood Secondary School, St Ninians RC High School 'B'.
