Cricket: Heriot's into the last eight

HERIOT'S fine season continued when they progressed into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup with a win over holders Aberdeenshire at Goldenacre.

In a match reduced to 35 overs per side, First Division leaders Heriot's hit 154-6 batting first, Gavin McIntyre top scoring with 57 and Chris Goddard chipping in with 38.

Aberdeenshire were then bowled out for 129 despite 38 from ex-Grange men Neil MacRae. Heriot's visit Uddingston in the last eight.

Carlton lost their tie to Clydesdale by 118 runs at Grange Loan. Charles Legget took 4-42 as the visitors made 222 before the home side were bowled out for 104. Edinburgh lost to Uddingston by seven wickets. Kashif Pervez top scored with 53 for the hosts as they made 152 in their 35 overs, but 75 not out from Sri Lankan Ras Priyadarshana saw the visitors through.

RH Corstorphine's Barnton ground was too wet to get a game in, but the Edinburgh side lost in a bowl out to Dumfries 3-0 to leave Heriot's as the only local team left in the event.
