Competitive edge to coaching sessions

CRICKET: A total of 170 children have attended the first three kwik cricket cluster festivals held in Perth and Kinross last week.

The tournaments are the culmination of the delivery of four-week coaching blocks for 30 primary schools across the county to date.

The children have practised catching, fielding, bowling and batting and the tournaments have given everyone the chance to test their newly-acquired skills.

Then the Highland Perthshire Cluster teams were invited to play at Breadalbane Cricket Club in Aberfeldy. The winners were Breadalbane Primary School, who entered a magnificent eight teams into the event.

The third tournament was hosted by Kinross Cricket Club at their picturesque Kinross House Ground. As there were an uneven number of teams, the club coaches put on coaching sessions for the children to allow them to enjoy a full day of cricket whilst improving their skills. There was a new winner for Kinross-shire in 2011 - Portmoak Primary School - who did not lose a game.
