Clegg claims silver but sets sights higher for 2012 Games

EDINBURGH sprinter Libby Clegg stormed to Paralympic 100m silver this morning, smashing her personal best and vowing to upgrade it in four years time.

The 18-year old visually-impaired sprinter improved the British record in every round and it took Ukrainian double world champion Oxana Boturchuk running the second fastest time in Paralympic history to beat her.

"She is wicked fast but I'm catching her up," said Clegg.

"I really hope she is still around in four years time because I think it will be a good rematch."

Meanwhile, Broxburn's Jim Anderson looks set for a second medal of the Games after cruising in to the final of the 100m freestyle.

The veteran Paralympian landed 200m freestyle silver earlier in the week and is in line to repeat that feat after winning his heat in a time of 2.26.23 minutes to qualify in second place.

Elsewhere, West Lothian's Kevin Simpson failed to progress beyond the first round of the men's wheelchair tennis singles – going down in three hard-fought sets to Italian Mario Gatelli.
