Chris Burke joins Birmingham

FORMER Rangers winger Chris Burke has joined Birmingham after failing to agree a new contract at Cardiff

Burke is Birmingham manager Alex McLeish's first signing since his St Andrews side were relegated from the Barclays Premier League.

Burke, 27, a Scottish international, was previously with McLeish at Rangers, where he played for nine years before joining Cardiff midway through the 2008-09 campaign.

Burke will also be reunited with central defender Roger Johnson, who played for the Bluebirds before moving to St Andrew's two years ago.

Burke was an integral part of a Cardiff side that came close to promotion to the top flight on several occasions but lost out in the play-offs last season.

His two Scotland caps and goals both came in the Kirin Cup in Japan in 2006.
