Changing Room Chat: Coldplay add insult to injury

PLAYING music over stadium Tannoys when a goal or try has been scored is now pretty commonplace. You can expect to hear The Proclaimers’ I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles), for example, when Scotland trouble the scoreboard at both Hampden and Murrayfield.

But blasting out a tune when a player gets injured? This was a new one on us. At Murrayfield for the Edinburgh v Glasgow game on Monday night, poor Rory Lamont had to put up with a lengthy version of Coldplay’s Paradise while he received treatment after a mid-air collision, and another Coldplay track was heard when Al Kellock needed some attention later in the game.
