Chandler shines for pentathlon team

ATHLETICS: Tom Chandler (Balfron High School) helped Scotland win a silver medal at this season’s indoor Schools’ International Pentathlon Championships and he proved he is the best Scot in his age-group outdoors with victory in the Scottish Secondary Schools’ Pentathlon Championships at Grangemouth.

Tom claimed the 15-17 years title, with Tyler Thomas (Lomond School), Charlie Dineen (Dollar Academy) and Alastair Stanley (High School of Glasgow) also striking gold.

Anna Nelson (Glen Urquhart High School), another who has represented Scotand at schools’ level, won the oldest girls’ section. Aimee Scott (Woodmill High School) claimed the title in a packed senior one event, with Caitlin Edgar (Morrison’s Academy) and Pamela McNicol (Carluke High School) taking the intermediate titles.
