Celtic striker Georgios Samaras in Greece squad

CELTIC striker Georgios Samaras has been included in Greece’s preliminary squad for the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine this summer.

• Samaras scored one goal in Euro qualifying campaign

• Greece will play Poland, Russia and the Czech Republic in Group A

The 27-year-old Celtic man was selected today along with 12 other foreign-based players by Greece national team coach, Fernando Santos. Samaras scored one goal in eight appearances during Greece’s qualifying campaign.

Greece will play two warm-up games against Armenia and Slovenia before heading for the tournament proper starting on 8 June against co-hosts Poland.
