Celtic: Adam Matthews sets starting target

New Celtic full-back Adam Matthews hopes his attacking style can help him to secure first-team football at Parkhead.

Matthews signed a pre-contract agreement in February and knows regular full-backs Mark Wilson and Emilio Izaguirre can overlap to great effect.

The former Cardiff right-back believes such an approach suits him but he knows he has a tough job to displace Wilson.

The 19-year-old, who has signed a four-year contract, said: "I'm quite an attacking full-back and I think the way Celtic play suits me.

"The full-backs seem to bomb forward and that's the way I like to play.

"Mark Wilson had a great season, but if I have a good pre-season I have every chance of starting."
