Carnoustie berths go in record time

THE popularity of one of Scotland’s leading week-long amateur tournaments has been underlined after all 338 places in this year’s Craw’s Nest Tassie at Carnoustie were snapped up within five minutes.

The competition’s online application system went live at 5pm on Monday and the allocation of places was filled in record time.

“It was incredible,” said Colin McLeod, Carnoustie Golf Links management committee’s golf services manager. “Last year, it would be fair to say we were taken a bit by surprise when the places were snapped up in just over seven minutes, but this year the whole process took two minutes less.”
