Capital touch league set for May kick-off
The non-tackling form of rugby has witnessed a meteoric rise in popularity around the world and remains a favourite of international rugby players around the globe. Glasgow coach Sean Lineen founded the first Scottish Touch event in 1994 and he will be playing in the capital league again this year with his wife and sons, and fellow former internationalists.
He said yesterday: “Speaking on a day with the sun shining there is nothing better than Touch to look forward to. The vast majority of people who come along don’t play rugby at all, but it is a great way to get a complete work-out and anyone can play – men, women and children – so it’s so sociable. We play a lot of Touch rugby at Glasgow training, as they do with the All Blacks and it has definitely helped the skills and awareness of players at all levels.”
