Call for calm as fans vent points anger

Whitecraigs’ committee have issued a message to disgruntled members asking them to show “restraint” after a dramatic finale in RBS Premier C.

At the weekend, Hillhead/Jordanhill’s 13-0 win over Selkirk secured them a top four place – and a spot in next season’s restructured National One – at the expense of Whitecraigs.

Early last week, Scottish Rugby’s championship committee docked Hillhead/Jordanhill docked two league points for failing to fulfil the match with Selkirk on the original date of 3 March. Hillhead/Jordanhill appealed the decision and, last Thursday, an independent appeals panel overturned it.

If it had not been overturned, Whitecraigs would have finished fourth, leaving some members to take to the club website to vent their anger.

A statement on the Whitecraigs website reads: “The committee understands the strength of feeling over recent decisions and results. Can we please ask members to show restraint both on this site and any other electronic forums offering your opinion on these delicate matters.

“Your committee we can assure you is working on your behalf on these matters, but please show restraint.”
