Byrne fails to spark in second round

ASIAN TOUR: Banchory’s James Byrne, joint-second at the start of play, slipped to 24th after the second round of the Panasonic India Open in New Delhi.

The 2010 Amateur Championship runner-up had a 75 after dropping five shots in five holes, including a triple-bogey 7 at the ninth.

He sits on one-over 145, seven shots behind the new leader, Siddikur of Bangladesh who birdied the last hole for a five-under-par 67.

Siddikur, who is the first Bangladeshi to play and win on the Asian Tour, fired six birdies against one bogey for a six-under-par 138 total, with his fine putting exemplified by a 30-foot birdie putt on the third hole.

Ross Bain, the other Scot in the field, made the cut after bouncing back from his opening 79 with a 69 that contained five birdies.
