Burgoyne passes at school for over–50s

EUROPEAN SENIOR TOUR QUALIFYING SCHOOL: Terry Burgoyne, who was based in Sweden for more than 20 years but is now attached to Glencruitten near Oban, has regained his card for the over-50s circuit. Fifteenth a year ago, Burgoyne improved on that by seuring the ninth-placed card after closing with a 73 for a level-par total of 284 at Pestana in Portugal. The Scot, who is 53 today, was among 18 players to gain cards for the 2012 season, with American Dick Mast capping a superb performance by finishing seven shots clear of the field in top spot with a 14-under total of 270. Englishman Glenn Ralph, a former Scottish Seniors Open champion, also secured a card, as did former PGA Tour winner Mike Donald. Carnoustie’s Lindsay Mann, the only other Scot to make the third-round cut, finished tied for 40th after a 75 for 293.
