'Burgh edge Super derby

Newtongrange Star 1 Musselburgh Athletic 2

MUSSELBURGH always looked the likelier to open the scoring in this Super League local derby and did so 20 minutes into the second half when, from a corner kick, striker Tom Graham reacted quickly inside the six-yard box and volleyed the ball past the keeper to put the visitors ahead.

Ten minutes later, from another corner, skipper Wes Mitchell rose well and his header came back off the crossbar and landed at the feet of Calvin Shand whose reaction shot from two yards out went straight into the arms of keeper Chris Hill.

With ten minutes remaining Musselburgh doubled their lead when a free kick was swung over and Danny Kelly, from a tight angle, volleyed the ball back across goal and into the net of the post to score.

With two minutes remaining, substitute Ubong Umotong grabbed a consolation goal for the home side when he ran on and rounded keeper Kieran Renton to score.
