Bryson DeChambeau and Romain Langasque in amateur battle

Eccentric American Bryson DeChambeau may be the player most people are tipping to deliver some amateur dramatics this week but don't be surprised if he is outshone by Romain Langasque, writes Martin Dempster.

The Frenchman, left, after all, came out on top by 4&3 when the pair clashed in the Georgia Cup – a match between the Amateur and US Amateur champions – last week at the Golf Club of Georgia. Langasque, 20, who beat Craigielaw’s Grant Forrest in the final of the Amateur Championship at Carnoustie last June to earn his place in this field, faces four other rivals in the battle to finish as leading amateur. Also involved in that are American duo Derek Bard and Sammy Schmitz, China’s Cheng Jin and Costa Rican Paul Chaplet.
