Brisk opening for Six Nations ticket sales

THE SRU credits the lingering "feel-good factor" from Scotland's win over Ireland in their final RBS Six Nations match for brisk business on the day tickets went on sale for next year's tournament.

Some 10,000 tickets were sold for Scotland's home games in the 2011 Six Nations Championship in just over two hours yesterday following Wednesday's announcement of the 2011 fixtures at Murrayfield with Wales, Ireland and Italy.

Tickets went on sale at noon, and Scottish Rugby's ticket centre manager Colin Douglas said: "As of 2.40pm this afternoon we have already sold almost the same number of tickets as we did in a full day for the corresponding fixtures two years ago.
