Bring me the head of Fergus Fox

THIS season goes from bad to worse for Falkirk. Rooted to the bottom of the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League, without a win in their opening seven games, the Bairns have suffered fresh ignominy with the news that their mascot's head has been stolen.

Fergus Fox has been posted missing since August after his head went missing from the club's Westfield Stadium – and club officials estimate that their furry friend's missing bonce is worth 1,000.

Sombre spokesman Keith Hogg was quoted telling a national tabloid yesterday: "Fergus has been with us for over three years. Everyone's concerned as to where he's disappeared to. He's an important part of the club."

We've heard of a rabbit's foot bringing good luck, but never a fox's head – the sooner the better for Falkirk's sake.
