Briggs pips Watton to title by a shot

RENFREWSHIRE county champion Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) pipped another of Scotland's up and coming youngsters, Rachael Watton (Mortonhall) to win the Munross Trophy women's 36-hole tournament – an SLGA Order of Merit event – by a single shot over the Montrose Links yesterday.

Briggs had two rounds of 75 for a total of 150.

Ashley Smith (Monifieth) was third on 156
