Brechin sign Hibs starlets on loan deals

HIBS' rising stars Ewan Moyes and Calum Booth have joined Brechin City on loan in a bid to gain first-team experience.

John Hughes has farmed the duo out to Glebe Park for six months, although a number of clubs were also believed to have been chasing their signatures.

Both players should be familiar with the Second Division, having spent time on loan with Arbroath last season.

Moyes started the last campaign on loan with Livingston but made only seven appearances before moving to Arbroath at the beginning of this year.

Booth, a Scotland Under-19 international cap, joined him in February and made an immediate impression, winning the Irn Bru Young Player of the Month award for the Red Lichties that month. Meanwhile, it has been reported that former Hibs striker Abdessalam Benjelloun's proposed move to German outfit Grunther Furth has fallen through.

The Morocco international was one of five senior players released by Hibs at the end of the season and was believed to have signed a two-year deal with second division Furth, with the option of an extra season.

He had been brought to the Germans' attention by their director of football Rachid Azzouzi, himself a former Moroccan international. But it is believed that, despite passing a medical, Benjelloun is again on the lookout for a new club.
