Boys from Brazil back new skipper to shine

Outgoing Edinburgh University rugby captain Michael Johnson has backed successor James Morrison to give a strong lead next season after the students completed a summer tour by drawing 20-20 with the Brazilian national team in Rio.

Brother of Graeme Morrison, the Scotland centre, James plays No.?8 and Johnson said: "James is very quietly spoken in contrast to his tough and fiery style on the pitch. He'll lead from the front.

"All who are returning to University from the Brazil trip - myself, Henry White and Andrew Weir are leaving - will benefit from playing against an emergent nation whose 150 clubs compares with 20 in 2001.

"It was a sign of interest that when we lost 11-27 to Brazil in our opening match in Sao Paolo less than 48 hours after arriving, the match was screened on the national television station's sports channel and attracted two-and-a-half million viewers!"

Against Brazil, Rob Cuthbertson scored all the student's points including three tries.
