McEwan eager to fight on Arthur spring bill

EDINBURGH middleweight star Craig McEwan is hoping to box at Meadowbank on Alex Arthur’s next city promotion on April 13 after his scheduled fight in Las Vegas on February 11 fell through.

The former Clovenstone fighter is tied to Golden Boy Promotions in Los Angeles until June, but will try and persuade his bosses to allow him to fight on Arthur’s Capital bill in the spring.

“I’m pondering an offer to go to Rhode Island in America where former Joe Calzaghe challenger Pete Manfedo has a training camp for sparring,” revealed McEwan.

“But that could be on hold now because Alex Arthur has asked me to box on his next show at Meadowbank.

“Alex’s show at Meadowbank is more attractive to me than going over to Rhode Island or hanging about hoping for another fight in America.

“I’m a pro boxer with a family to keep.

“This is my livelihood and inaction is hurting me both financially and boxing-wise.

“The Arthur offer is a solid one which would set me up nicely when my contract expires with Golden Boy in June.”
