Commonwealth Games boxing: Ross Henderson through to quarter finals
The 26-year-old from Motherwell thrilled the home fans at the afternoon session in the SECC when he overcame a difficult start to defeat Parveen Kumar of India on a unanimous points decision.
Henderson will now face Joyce, who comfortably beat Keddy Agnes of the Seychelles in his preliminary round contest, in an ‘Auld Enemies’ clash on Tuesday with the winner of that bout guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

But although Henderson was caught with a few counter punches at the start of the second round, he successfully upped the tempo and imposed himself on the contest with greater aggression and workrate. He landed some solid shots in the final round to claim a clear points win.
