Boxing: Family death puts boxing show on hold

Next month’s amateur boxing clash between Edinburgh and Manchester at the Usher Hall has been postponed until later this year.

The event, which was due to take place on Friday, May 25, will now not go ahead due to unforeseen circumstances. Promoter Bradley Welsh is extremely disappointed the show won’t go ahead as planned, but the sudden death of his mother has forced the boxing enthusiast to put his plans on hold.

The Usher Hall played host to an “Edinburgh v Universities” contest at the beginning of March and proved hugely successful attracting a large audience.

Welsh said: “We will definitely look to run the event later in the year and hope it will go ahead in either August or September.”
