Boxing: McEwan reigns in Las Vegas

CAPITAL ace Craig McEwan retained his unbeaten record as a pro boxer in American rings by stopping Canadian champion Kris Andrews in round eight of their Las Vegas showdown.

In front of a massive crowd at Las Vegas's Mandalay Bay Arena ex-Wester Hailes resident McEwan upped his unbeaten record as a light-middleweight to 18 wins against Edmonton southpaw Andrews.

A jubilant McEwan said: "I am returning to Edinburgh later in April for a rest with my wife Sally and 19-month-old son so that my wife can have our second child, which is due in June, in Edinburgh. I'll meet my dad Rab, who is also my former amateur coach, at Clovenstone to keep fit."
