Boxing: Lewis Paulin powers his way to Scottish Novices boxing title

Queensferry southpaw lightweight ace Lewis Paulin hit too hard and too often for Coatbridge Barn club rival Sean Lennon at the Scottish Novices championships in Moodieburn to become the 60kgs champion.

Big banging portsider Paulin was 10-2 points ahead at the end of the first round and his blistering hooks had opponent Lennon rocking until the bout was stopped in the third round with the Coatbridge boxer toiling to survive Paulin's crashing head and body shots.

Another Capital boxer to grab Scottish title glory at Moodiesburn was Craigmillar Holyrood light-welterweight Martyn Warner who outpointed Hawick's James Amos by 13-5 in an exciting scrap. However, there was disappointment for Leith Victoria light-heavyweight Connor Brown, who lost a narrow 5-3 points verdict to Blantyre's smooth boxing David Jamieson in their 81kgs final bout.
