Boxing: Feast of explosive boxing expected at Holyrood club show

The Holyrood club's ten-bout dinner show at Haymarket's Grosvenor-Hilton hotel tonight will feature two intriguing all-Craigmillar fights among a feast of potential explosive encounters for the sell-out crowd.Holyrood club show

Craigmillar's former Scottish 64kg champion Jason Easton will clash with Holyrood's Martyn Warner in a bout that pits two on-form local rivals against each other - a clash that prompted Craigmillar coach Kenny McCartney to observe: "Jason Easton is looking to use this local tussle with Warner as a warm up for his bout next week in Whitehaven, Cumbria, against a top English opponent.''

Meanwhile, McCartney's lightweight Tony James faces a stiff test against slick Holyrood switch hitter Phil Coppola, who many consider was unlucky to drop a close points decision recently to David Dickson.

Lochend ace Dickson was actually set to give Coppola a return clash tonight after controversially outpointing the slick moving Holyrood boxer in a recent show in the Capital.

However, when the scales showed Coppola to be two kilos above the lightweight limit, Dickson's team withdrew their fighter.

At welterweight, there is a cracking contest between Holyrood's Chris Givan, who won his international debut boxing for Scotland in Dublin recently, and Renfrew star Stuart Burt, who is a seasoned western champion.

At super-heavyweight, Holyrood's Scottish Novices 91+kg champion, David Golan, and unbeaten East Lothian rival, Gary Fairgrieve, will go head to head.

Tranent Bronx lightweight Sean Cunningham will face a selected opponent on the action-packed card.
