Bowls: Wendy Purdie among Lothians quartet for Home Internationals

Former Bainfield star Wendy Purdie will stretch her indoor bowls full cap total from 24 to 27 when she lines up for Scotland in the Home International Series to be played at Swansea from March 14-16.

Purdie emerged into the limelight with the Edinburgh-based club and won nine caps under the Bainfield banner before transferring her skills to West Lothian IBC and has continued to flourish having won the national singles title in 2008.

The overall representation from Edinburgh and the Lothians is slim, however, with Purdie just one of four stars from the area in the recently-announced team of 24 players and two reserves. Agnes Melrose of Midlothian IBC, who is on 48 caps, is the senior local figure on parade. Lorraine Malloy of Balbardie keeps the flag flying for the Bathgate-based club for a sixth series (18 caps) and like Melrose is entrusted with the position of skip.
