Borderlescott back in business at York

Borderlescott is all set to come out of retirement and show he is no back number in the sprinting ranks when he returns to action at York on Saturday.

Trainer Robin Bastiman reports the 11-year-old to be ready for his comeback run in the Listed City Walls Stakes, although he does expect him to benefit from the outing.

Should Borderlescott come through this first test, he could go to Glorious Goodwood for the Audi Stakes, which he won in 2010, before another crack at the Nunthorpe back at York in August.

He was successful in the five-furlong showpiece in 2008 at Newmarket and 2009 at York.

“If his blood tests are all right he’ll run,” said Bastiman.

“He’s been working well. It’s his first run so he’ll probably just need it. He still picks up and quickens, he just annihilates everything I’ve got here. I know I haven’t got anything else like him, but he’s doing just what he used to do.

“It’s a starter this race and we’ll just go from here.”
