Booth ties lead after first day in Munich

LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR: Scottish Ladies Open champion Carly Booth is tied for the lead after the first round of the German Open.

The Comrie player opened with a five-under-par 67 at the event near Munich to set the pace with Swedish duo Caroline Westrup and Carin Koch and Austria’s Stefanie Michl.

Meanwhile, Russian Anastasia Kostina made history by winning the GolfStream Ladies Open, the first ever women’s professional golf tournament to be staged in Ukraine.

Kostina finished four strokes clear of overnight leader Bénédicte Toumpsin of Belgium by posting a closing 70 in tough conditions at Kiev Golf Club.

Scottish amateur Pamela Pretswell, who won the previous week in Sweden, ended the tournament in third position at six over par.
