Bo'ness clash is Cup carrot for Bathgate

THE draw for the fifth round of the Scottish Junior Cup has thrown up the possibility of a cracking clash between Bathgate Thistle and Bo'ness United.

But Bathgate first have to negotiate today's fourth-round tie against Glenrothes.

Bathgate boss Graeme Love said: "The reward is a full house against Bo'ness and it would be a tough encounter for us but we've faced just as strong challenges before and won through.

"But we can't start thinking about Bo'ness until we have taken care of Glenrothes and that's the message I'll be giving the players before the game."

Bo'ness manager Alan McGonigal believes things could have been worse regardless of who his side end up facing.

He said: "At least we're not drawn away down to Ayrshire. You can be facing the unknown away down there.

"That game will look after itself with the players knowing what's at stake. We're doing well in the league just now but the Scottish has its own atmosphere and anything can happen. I believe Bathgate will win today and it looks a great draw for the supporters.

Linlithgow Rose face a trip to Whitletts or Forfar West End and boss Dave Baikie said: "An away game in the Scottish is never easy. We know all about Forfar and we think they will win."

Newtongrange face the winners of the Renfrew versus Tayport fourth-round tie. Both are recent winners of the national trophy and Star manager Graeme Armstrong said: "We would have preferred a home draw but we'll do our homework on both sides. On the day it's about how we play."
