Bobsleigh: Cooke heats up in Bob

Edinburgh's Gillian Cooke declared herself well satisfied with her second competitive outing as a driver in GBR2, the second GB women's bobsleigh, in the Europa Cup competition in Igls, near Innsbruck, Austria on Saturday.

Cooke and brakewoman Nikki McSweeney finished 13th, one place better than last week's first outing and five places ahead of the other British bob of Fiona Harrison and Faye Pittman.

"That was a much more confident drive than Thursday and we were pleased to go one place better against much more experienced drivers," said Cooke, who moved on to Cesana in Italy yesterday to begin practice for the second European Cup round there later this week.
