Basketball: Scotland set to face England

Scotland senior men are to play England in a prime slot at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham next month.

The two teams will face up officially as England Select v Scotland Select in a warm-up game for the BBL Play-Offs Final on Saturday May 12, but it is an ideal opportunity for Scotland coach Tom Campbell to run his eye over his team as they prepare for the European C Championship in San Marino.

Campbell has already held one training session but has refused to confirm or deny reports that Glasgow Rocks player Danny Huffor will make his Scotland debut, hopefully joining team-mate Gareth Murray, who opted out of the last European C event after skippering the team in Edinburgh in 2008.

Scotland last played England in preparation for the ill-fated 2010 European tournament in Malta when Australian-reared GB cap Steve Leven, whose father hailed from Edinburgh, made his debut.

Scotland have drawn Malta, Wales and San Marino in their group, and coach Campbell, who had to leave the 2010 tournament early due to a family illness, will be anxious to avenge a humiliating loss to Wales in their final game of the 2010 tournament.

Andorra, Gibraltar and Moldova are in the other group.
