Basketball: Kings and Kool Kats bid to end their season on a high

The Kings men can complete a double, adding a second trophy to the Scottish League title already secured, as well as consigning Falkirk Fury to another trophyless season.

In the women’s game, Edinburgh Kool Kats can rescue something from what has frankly been a disappointing season as they bid to upset Glasgow Rocks and stop the Cumbernauld side completing a treble.

Kings pipped Fury for the league title by just one point during the regular season but the Falkirk side came out on top when the sides met in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

Kings coach Doug Reilly believes his team is hitting form at the right time after their play-off semi-final demolition of Glasgow University.

“It’s been a season of peaks and troughs for us in some ways and I expect it to be a pretty tough battle,” he states. “Fury beat us in the cup semi-final but we were without one of our key players. To be fair, though, they played well that day.

“Hopefully, it will be a good match and a fitting end to the season.”

He added: “We expect to be at full strength. Simon Flockhart had suffered a hand injury when his dog bit him but, fortunately, he did not miss any games as there was a break in the play-offs.

“We also had our Lithuanian, Audrius Ciapas, back for the home match against Glasgow University and he gives us a different option and has done well for us. We know all about Fury. Roni Gordon is always a handful and Jonny Bunyan can cause problems, as can Scott Russell, but there are a few players we need to watch.”
