Basketball: Fury blow the Storm away

FALKIRK Fury served notice that they have not given up the chase on leaders Edinburgh Kings in the Scottish basketball league by trouncing Glasgow Storm 98-52 in their opening game of 2010 in Glasgow.

Kings, who remain one win ahead of Fury at the top of the table, had no senior game at the weekend but host their rivals at Portobello on Saturday. Kings juniors defeated Perth Phoenix 70-59 at Portobello on Saturday helped by 23 points from Niall Mackle.

There was no happy ending for Edinburgh Kool Kats in their top-of-the table clash with Glasgow Rocks in the Scottish Women's League. Rocks won 69-53 in a topsy-turvy game in which they led 23-9, were pulled back to a four-point lead then scored 12 points in a row to pull clear again by half-time.
