Basketball: Exiles are in fine form

Capital star Rose Anderson came alive for her new club UWIC Archers in only her second outing in the English Women’s Division One, top-scoring with 21 points in their win over Leeds Carnegie in Cardiff.

Anderson’s training regime appears to be paying off under UWIC coach Damian Jennings, who is also the Great Britain women’s assistant coach. Anderson’s Scottish team-mates Marie Buchan and Becca Allison have opened their season for Old Dominion University in Virginia on a promising note, Buchan scoring 15 points, taking 12 rebounds and dishing out seven assists in a 30-minute stint and former Kool Kat Allison scoring six points and taking five rebounds in a 25-minute outing.
