Basketball: Clare and present talent

Polonia PHOENIX coach Stewart Harris has praised 17-year-old Craigmount High schoolgirl Clare Paxton for her recent performances with both the senior and junior women’s teams.

“She has great potential given her size and athleticism,” said Harris, “but she still has lots to learn.” Clare and elder sister Seona, who also plays for Polonia seniors, are the daughters of former British Lions rugby player Iain Paxton.

Polonia juniors are at home to Tayside Musketeers at Wester Hailes on Sunday (3pm), while Edinburgh Kool Kats juniors play host to Falkirk Fury.
