Badminton: Imogen Bankier grabs second title in a week

IMOGEN BANKIER won her second title in a week yesterday when she added the Finnish Open women’s doubles title to last week’s French International mixed doubles triumph.

Bankier, who won the mixed in Orleans with Scotland team-mate Robert Blair, took the women’s doubles in Vantaa with Bulgarian partner Petya Nedelcheva. They beat Denmark’s Lena Grebak and Maira Helsbol 21-10, 21-14 to cap a fine weekend.

Two-time Scottish International winner Rajiv Ouseph also claimed back-to-back men’s singles titles, beating Ukraine No 2 seed Dmytro Zavadsky 21-16, 21-12 to follow up his win at the French International.

Bankier is back in action next week at the Dutch International.
