Hammer-thrower Kimberley Reed (EAC) has turned to Scotland’s men’s record-holder Chris Black for coaching advice.

Reed, the Commonwealth Youth Games medallist, has been coached for several years by Borders-based hammer guru Alan Bertram, who is
currently ill. Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Black is no stranger to coaching having formerly advised Shirley Webb, who still holds the Scottish women’s record of 67.58m set in 2005.

Reed, who is still only 18, has a personal best of 56.41m set last year.
